Obituary

Marion Smith Mammie-Tail Williams, 78, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, she was the daughter of Jimmie Lee Wilson and Newton Smith, born on Sunday, February 5, 1933. She was educated in the Putnam County School District. Mammie-Tail was a farm laborer formerly employed by the Talley Box Company and Florida Furniture Industries. She enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family and socializing with her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by maternal grandparents, James and Estella (Conish) Calhoun. Marion leaves to cherish her memories: beloved son; Carlton D. Smith, Sr., devoted daughter, Denise Turner; loving sister, Olivia Nelson; 10 grandchildren, Carlton Smith, Jr., Obidiah (Veronica) McCaskill, Tiffany (Willie) Nelson, Carmen Beauford, Antonio (Tremaine) Howard, Travis (Matoya) Howard, Angela (Bernard) Dasher, Tabitha (Tavoris) Williams, Daryl Smith, Toccara Smith; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great- great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; her faithful pet chihuahua, Daddy O Williams. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at the Palatka Church of God by Faith, 1511 Washington Street, Elder Phillip Thomas, Pastor. Pastor Errol V. Melendez, of Jesus is the Way Ministries, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka. The cortege will assemble 10:20 a.m. Saturday at the familys residence, 2604 West Main Street, Apt. A-105, Palatka
