Marcus Jamal Williams, 24, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, he was the son of Darnell and Roberta McHellen Williams, Sr., born on Saturday, April, 30, 1994. He was educated in Putnam County, attending high school at Peniel Baptist Academy. He was a tree surgeon equipment operator with Shaw Tree Service of St. Augustine. He enjoyed spending time with family and loved to play basketball.
He was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandfather, Arthur Lee Thomas; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Ethel McHellen, Sr.; great-uncle, Robert McHellen, Jr.; uncle, Clarence Williams, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted parents, Darnell and Roberta McHellen Williams, Palatka; son, Marcus Jamal Williams, Jr., and his son's mother, Breonna McBride, Palatka; maternal grandmother, Alberta McHellen, Palatka; paternal grandmother, Earline Simmons, Palatka; brothers, Donzell "Chevy" (Hillary) Williams, Palatka; Darnell Williams, Jr., St. Louis, MO; sisters, LaQuita Butler and Donielle Williams, both of Palatka; aunts and uncles, Robert P. McHellen, Christopher McHellen, Ivan (Shannon) Boyd, Conswello Gordon, Anthony Williams, all of Palatka; Alphonso Simmons, Tampa; Lavon Williams, Norfolk, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 17, at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of Marcus' Life will be 12 noon, Saturday, August 18, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka. Elder Jarvis F. Wright, Pastor of New Saint Paul Church of God in Christ, Seville, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
