May 10, 1952 – February 20, 2021
Manda Mae Austin, 68, Armstrong, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at AdventHealth, Palm Coast. A native of Evergreen, Alabama, she was the daughter of Mack Donald Thomas and Clara Mae Williams Thomas, born on Saturday, May 10, 1952. In July of 1957, the Thomas family relocated to Palatka. Manda was educated in the Putnam County School District and a 1970 graduate of Palatka South High School. She continued her educational pursuit at St. Johns River Community College. She earned certification in Early Childhood Education through RCMA.
In 1974, she was united to Willie Bruce Austin and became a resident of Armstrong. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Armstrong and was active in church ministry, volunteering to assist the sick and shut in and she taught Bible study classes. Her hobbies included visiting museums, gardening and she enjoyed riding her bicycle. Manda loved reading and sharing the love of God through encouraging others and reflecting Christ to everyone that crossed her path. She was very passionate about her family. Due to health reasons, she retired from Redlands Christian Migrant Association (RCMA) as a dedicated childcare provider in the Hastings and Palatka region.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded internal rest by two sisters, Mary Clara Thomas and Doris Lee Rich; three brothers, James L. Williams, Johnny Jr. Williams and Richard L. Thomas.
She leaves to cherish: sons, Willie (Ramona) Wilson Tolver, Fayetteville, NC; Willie Austin Jr., Savannah, GA; Steve Austin, Jacksonville; Norman Austin, Armstrong; daughters, Julie (Fred) Ann Warthaw, Palm Coast; Tiffany B. Austin, Jacksonville; sisters, Mary S. Williams, Orlando; Christine T. Norwood and Carrie L. (Freddie) Cannon, both of Palatka; brothers, Earnest L. Thomas, Clint (Mary) Thomas, Calvester Thomas and Robert (Marites) Thomas, all of Palatka; and a host of grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines including required masks with social distancing, a public visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2021, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." A Celebration of Life will be held graveside at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Armstrong Cemetery, Armstrong, Florida. Reverend Michael Session, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Armstrong, officiating.
