Mack Arthur Mims, Sr., 81, of Waldo, (formerly Crescent City), entered the sunset of life on Thursday, October, 30, 2025 at UF Health at Shands, Gainesville.
Mack Arthur Mims, Sr. was born on Wednesday, December 1, 1943 in Girard, Georgia to Willie Charles Mims, Sr. and Emma Lee Dixon Mims. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Crescent City, where he was ordained as a deacon in 2001. He served God through his church as a deacon, a member of the usher ministry, program ministry and beautification ministry. He was a former member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mack was a 32nd degree mason, New Moon Lodge #32, F. & A.M. in Crescent City. His hobbies included fishing, supporting the Crescent City High School Raiders, watching the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida State Seminoles. Mack was also a fan of race car driver Dale Jarrett. For many years, Mack was employed as a crew leader in the fern industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Gary Patrick Mims; grandchildren, Mackell and Mackayla Mims (twins); brothers, Willie C. Mims, Jr., Clarence Mims and Emmett Mims.
Mack's memories will be cherished by his wife Shirley Smith Mims, Waldo, FL; daughters and sons, Constance Y. Mims, Sebring, FL, Sherry Mims, Mack Arthur (Lisa) Mims, Rutherfordton, N.C., Theron (Brittney) Mims, Palatka, Cruz D. Mims, Crescent City; stepson, Terry Garrison, Gainesville; grandchildren, Trivauhn, Jonathan (Seivily), Mackeryl, Jalen, Gary, Jr., Masia, Malachi, Arreona, Ramiya, Delton Jr., Fatima, DeShaun, Barbara, Entronyka, Rodney and Ezekiel; 10 step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Mims, Rochester, N. Y., James (Valerie) MIms, Waynesboro, GA, Bobby Mims, Hampton Bays, NY; sisters, Essie P. Thomas, Crescent City, Barbara Mims, Crescent City, Lue G. Mims, Houston, TX; mother-in-law, Frances Greenhouse, Philadelphia, PA; daughter-in-law, Teryl Mims, Welaka; aunts & uncles; Frances Brunson, Savannah, GA and Bernice Mims, Palm Coast; special aunt, Martha Parks, Tampa; friends, Robert Ashe, Jr., Palatka, Roger Harris, Vincent Whitaker, Crescent City, Harry Thomas, San Mateo; extended special family members; Dr. Karen Harris and Sandy Evan, Gainesville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Dea. Mack's life will commence at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 15, at Mt. Tabor 1st Baptist Church (South Campus), 608 Randolph St., Crescent City, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Rev. Michael Robinson, Friendship Baptist Church, Crescent City, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
