Luella Baker Ross, 93, of Pierson, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Ridgecrest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Deland. A native of Lake Butler, she was the daughter of Charlie and Cora (Johnson) Jackson, born on Friday, April 10, 1925. She was educated in the Gilchrist County FL School District. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Seville, until her declining health prevailed. Luella was united in holy matrimony to Reverend George Washington "G.W." Ross (former pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Georgetown).
In addition to her parents, husband, and siblings, Luella was preceded in eternal rest by three sons, Miller B. McKinnon, Curtis W. Murphy, Edward L. Murphy; two daughters-in-law, Cynthia Murphy and Mary McKinnon.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Willie L. McKinnon, Columbus, OH; Aaron (Beverly) McKinnon, Sr., Palm Coast; Reuben (Ethel Mae) Boatwright, Ernest C. Johnson, both of Pierson; Joseph Ross, Daytona Beach; Maurice (Ruthie) Ross, Orange City; daughters, Bertha L. McKinnon, Kimberly (Clifford) Frazier, both of Orlando; Letitia Ross, Bunnell; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 1-4 p.m., with Homegoing Celebration 4 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 609 State Street, Bunnell, Rev. Dr. Patrick Wilkerson, pastor, officiating. Her pastor, Rev. James Vickers, Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Seville, is the eulogist. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Seville.
