Lucinda Cromley, 82, longtime resident of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born October 5, 1926 in Darien, GA. to the union of Isadore & Fannie (Mitchell) Cromley and was educated in McIntosh County Georgia School District. She has resided in Florida since 1942 and formerly resided in Daytona Beach, Ft. Valley & Waycross, GA. She was a member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she formerly sang in the adult choir. She was a member of the Daughters of Elks, Nottage Temple #484., I.B.P.O.E. of W. and formerly operated the lodge on N. 19th Street. She was affectionately called Mother by many in her family and the community. She was an avid gardener who also enjoyed cooking. She was employed for many years by the Rion, Gibson, & Rogero families, and was formerly employed by Thomas Cooper, Sr. In 1989, Lucinda retired from the Putnam County ARC. She is preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Isadore & Fannie Cromley; daughter, Cynthia V. Robinson Arnold; stepfather, L.R.N. Mullen, and granddaughter Shemika McCullers. To cherish her memories: 5 daughters, Gwendolyn Robinson, Mary (Lenwood) McCullers, both of East Palatka, Marion (Harrison, Jr.) Edwards, Palatka, Portia D. Stewart, St. Albans, NY; Keshia Robinson, Jacksonville; 3 sons, James (Tangy) Robinson, Sr., San Mateo; Isadore (Linda) West and Daniel (Virginia) Aikens, both of Atlanta, GA; step-son, Harry (Mary) Robinson, Albany, GA; stepbrother, Leroy Mullen, Jr. (Dorothy), East Palatka; stepsisters, Meldonia (Charles) Moore and Ellen Spikes; brother-in-law, William White, all of Ft. Lauderdale; 37 grand children; 63 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grand-son; a host of other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family & friends will be Tuesday, October 28, from 5-8 p.m., at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing services will be Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2 pm at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N 19th St., Rev. Anthony Q. Robinson, Pastor, Presiding and Rev. Karl N. Flagg, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oakhill West Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.flaggserenitychapel.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
