Obituary

Loren DWayne Wayne Flowers,41, entered the sunset of life unexpectedly Saturday, January 1, 2011, at Putnam Community Medical Center. Loren was a native of Palatka and a lifelong resident of Putnam County, born August 20, 1969 to Fred C. Sr., and Ella Mae Flowers. Loren was educated in the Putnam County School District (Palatka High School Class of 1987). He was enrolled in the Welding program at First Coast Technical Institute and was a former employee of Hydro-Aluminum in St. Augustine. In February 2002, Loren was united in marriage to the former Pambelia Denise Johnson. Wayne was a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church and a former member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid football and basketball fan.

Loren is preceded in eternal rest by his beloved parents, Fred C. and Ella Mae Flowers; devoted wife, Pambelia Johnson-Flowers (May 31, 2007); and brother, James M. Flowers.

To cherish his memories: brother, Fred C. Flowers, Jr.; sisters, Rosetta (Curtis) Turner, Lillie B. Roberts, Debra A. Wright, Catherine (Michael) Gilliam, all of Palatka; stepsons, Brandon Johnson, Byron Shorter, stepdaughter, Brittany Shorter, all of San Mateo; 5 step grandchildren; and a host of aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; numerous other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 7 (today) at Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of Life Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. The Reverend Karl N. Flagg, pastor is the eulogist and the Reverend Clarence Mallory, Jr., officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery. The cortege will assemble on Saturday at 1:20 p.m. at the Flowers residence, 606 North 10th Street, Palatka.
