Lonnie Bruno Lewis, Jr., 67, a native of Palatka, FL, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Community Hospice & Palliative Care Morris Center in Jacksonville.  The son of Lonnie B. Lewis, Sr. and Ella (Donerson) Lewis, Lonnie was born on Friday, August 19, 1955 in Palatka.  During his early years, Lonnie was baptized at the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church.  He was educated in the Putnam County school district and graduated from Palatka Central High School in 1973.  Lonnie completed undergraduate study and earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Florida State University in Tallahassee.  After a period of active duty in the United States Air Force, Lonnie received an honorable discharge from military service.  His work history included employment with the Department of Corrections and Water Management District as a water tester.  Fishing was Lonnie's favorite recreational activity.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in eternal rest by his sister, Jacqueline Marie Lewis Williams and a nephew, Willie Oliver Hagans, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: brothers, Ronnie Eugene Lewis, Jacksonville and Anthony Ray Lewis, Gainesville; sister, Teresa Lewis, Pomona Park; uncle, Eugene Donerson, Orlando; aunt, Mary Vines, Palatka.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 24; Celebration of Lonnie's Life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
