Linda Denise Whitfield, 35, of Palatka, entered the sunrise of a beautiful life on June 21, 1974 and entered the sunset of life on Sunday, June 13, 2010 by the divine order and call of Jesus Christ, an angel was released from Heaven to East Palatka to escort her soul back to her Creator. A native of St. Augustine, she was the second child of Barbara Parler and the late Clarence Whitfield, Sr. Her journey for Christ commenced at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Hastings, FL under the leadership of the late Rev. James Golden. She was a faithful member of Eagles in Flight Outreach Ministry, St. Augustine. Linda attended Hastings Elementary, Beasley Middle and St. Augustine High School and was a 1993 graduate of Palatka High School. She was a woman of strong character and great value who touched numerous lives. Certified as a CNA, HHA and a Phlebotomist, Linda was an employee of Haven Hospice of Palatka and Ponce Therapy Care Center in St. Augustine.
Her bountiful legacy of love and giving is left to her mother, Barbara Parler, (Emmanuel), Hastings; three daughters, Attallah Zanae King, ArKeilah Johnson and AKessiah Johnson, all of Palatka; two brothers, Clarence Whitfield, Jr., East Palatka; Xavier Whitfield, Hastings; three sisters, LaTacha Tasha (Sam) Torrance and NaKeisha Parker, East Palatka; LaTanya Tan Whitfield, Palatka; maternal grandmother, Mary Mag McCloud, Hastings; paternal grandfather, Willie Crow Whitfield, Sr., Hastings and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (today) at the Chapel of Serenity.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at The Lords Temple City of Refuge, 140 Gilmore Street, Hastings, Elder Thomas Cave III, Pastor. Bishop Edward Brown, founder and overseer of Eagles in Flight Outreach Ministry is the eulogist. The cortege will assemble at the Torrances residence 103 Barcelona Street, East Palatka.
Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, 712 S. Palm Avenue, Palatka
