Lily Jean "Big Mama" Green, 76, of Penney Farms entered the sunset of life on Sunday, April 14 at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville. A native of Green Cove Springs, Lily was born on Thursday, August 20, 1936 to John & Ruby (Rogers) Kenney. She was educated in the Clay County School District and was a longtime loyal employee of the Penney Retirement Community. She was united in marriage to Perkin Green. Lily was a faithful member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Lily was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Amos Andrew Green; sister, Johnnie Mae Frazier; brothers, Cleveland and Nathaniel Kenney. Those who cherish her precious memories: sons, Allen Green, St. Petersburg; Deacon Peter (Pastor Ezella) Green and Jimmy Green, Pier Station; daughters, Callie Ann (Robert) Bennett, Penney Farms; Sandra Brown, Orange Park; sisters, Mary Shark, Apopka; Erlene Baker, Orlando; Irene Shuman, Brunswick, GA; Connie Ponder, Savannah, GA; Debra Mance, Green Cove Springs; brother, Floyd Kenney, Miami; brother-in-law, John Frazier, Brunswick; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth L. Green, Green Cove Springs; 17 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, faithful New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church family, and other caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 4020 Pier Station Rd. W., Green Cove Springs. A Celebration of a New Life will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 1300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Green Cove Springs, Rev. R. L. Wright, Pastor. Her pastor, Rev. Dr. Abram Marshall, of New Bethel Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
