IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lillian Alberta
Robinson Kemp
May 7, 1939 – September 8, 2024
Lillian Alberta Robinson Kemp, native of Welaka, resident of San Mateo, Florida, shared her musical gifts with churches from a young age. Well remembered for her singing and piano skills, she touched the hearts of Putnam County residents and those in neighboring areas for over 65 years. She was a Putnam Countian for over 75 years, born on Sunday, May 7, 1939 to Elmore and Margaret (Anderson) Robinson. She considered Palatka to be her true home.
Raised by her aunt in Jacksonville, FL, Lillian often spoke of her family's musical heritage, attributing her abilities to her mother's side. Lillian credited her Aunt Irene for nurturing her musical talents after her mother's passing when she was just three years old. At the tender age of 13, she returned to Welaka and played the organ at a funeral for the first time, leaving a lasting impact.
Throughout her life, Lillian was a very talented, multi-instrumentalist who utilized her passion for music which extended to playing the piano, organ, and keyboard for numerous church ministries, events and associations throughout the Putnam County region and beyond. Her dedication to utilizing God-given gifts was fueled by her belief that serving Christ was her ultimate purpose. Lillian's music wasn't just about hitting notes and melodies; it was a vehicle to uplift souls and prepare hearts to receive the word of God. Her teachings and performances inspired many to find solace and unity in their faith. She was a faithful servant of God and Church Mother at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church.
Despite facing life's challenges, including the loss of four of her thirteen children, Lillian's resilience and unwavering faith shined brightly. A true testament to her strength, she juggled motherhood with a successful career, excelling in mental health services and administration.
Her love for God and music opened doors to opportunities that she embraced wholeheartedly. Lillian's educational journey, from A. Quinn Jones School to Santa Fe Junior College, reflected her commitment to self-improvement and lifelong learning.
Her legacy lives on through her family, a testament to the love and wisdom she passed down from generation to generation. Her life truly was a symphony of faith, love, and perseverance, leaving an indelible mark on all who met and knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her daughters, Phyllis Marie Kemp, Denise Patricia Kemp-Mims, Princess Lori Ann Robinson, Pamela Kemp Horner; "like a mother," Irene Baggs; brother; Elmore Robinson, Jr.; grandson, Reshard Evans; fur son; Spud Rico Johnson Kemp.
