Obituary

Lillian Brantley Burgess, 58, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. The daughter of Marion Brantley, Sr. and Tressie Lee (McDuffie) Brantley, she was a native of Allendale, SC born on Friday, August 7, 1959. She was educated in the Putnam County School District at Crescent City High School. Lillian was employed at Clark Ferneries, and subsequently as a Retail Clerk for Miller Enterprises (Handy Way), Kangaroo Convenient Stores, and Rotech Oxygen & Home Medical Equipment. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Crescent City where she served as a youth ministry leader and a member of the outreach ministry, as well as sang in the choir. Her hobbies included fishing and gardening. She was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars fan.

In addition to her father, Lillian was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, Tom and Louise Wright; paternal grandparents, Ned and Gertrude Brantley; uncles, Bernard Wright, Albert Brantley; aunts, Hattie Lee Jordan, Emma Cobb; granddaughter, Daloni Brantley.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Darrell Burgess, Crescent City; daughters and son, Melissa Crocker, Brian (Ashely) Brantley, Crystal Brantley, all of Crescent City; 5 grandchildren, Damien, Aubrey, Xavier, and Tylhn Brantley, Questavia Jordan; great-granddaughter, Dariah Brantley; mother, Tressie Lee Brantley, Crescent City; brothers, Marion Brantley, Jr., Jacksonville; Charles Brantley, Rockledge; sister, Clotelia (Jim) Taylor, Augusta, GA; aunts & uncle, Mary Alice Simmons, Palm Coast; Maudell Hicks, Annie Ruth Wright, Bobby Wright, all of Allendale, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 2:30-4:30 p.m., Friday, November 24 at Friendship Baptist Church, 286 Smiley Store Road, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration will be 10 a.m., Saturday, November 25 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church (South Putnam Campus), 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Reverend Michael Robinson, Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, is the eulogist.
