Obituary

Leroy Carl "L. C." Lewis, 83, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, May 8th, 2011 at Manor on the Green, Daytona Beach, FL following an extended illness. L.C. was a native and longtime resident of Palatka, born on Wednesday, September 14, 1927 to Alexander and Hattie (Way) Lewis. He was a 1947 graduate of Central Academy High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War (1950-1952) and earned an honorable discharge. L.C. was a retired employee of the former Central States Diversified. L. C. was a longtime member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. He had a keen sense of humor, was always the life of the party and enjoyed socializing with family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, L. C. was preceded in eternal rest by his sister, Mildred Carter; and brother, James Lewis.

He leaves to cherish his memories his brother; Frank A. Lewis, St. Augustine, FL; Sister, Levis A. Roberts, Palatka, and a host of nieces, especially his devoted caregiving niece, Yvonne Minors, Palm Coast; nephews, cousins, god-son, goddaughter and other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, and Saturday from 9 a.m. 2p.m. at The Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor, is the eulogist.

Interment with Military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville.
