Obituary

Leitha Louise Grammie Nichols, 91, of Daytona Beach, entered into the sunset of life on Friday, March 25, 2011 (one day prior to her 92nd birthday) at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Palatka, she was born on Wednesday, March 26, 1919 to Henry and Elmore Shannon Nichols. She was converted at an early age and was baptized off of Roddy Road (Palmetto area) and was reared in Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Lundy) under the pastoral leadership of Reverend C. Hardy. She was a graduate of Central Academy High School, Class of 1939. She resided in Miami (1970-1996) and was a retired Library Clerk in the Miami-Dade Public Library system. She has resided in Daytona Beach for the past year and a half, relocating from Gainesville (1996-2009) where she worked part-time at the Westside Park. Leitha loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church. Leithas favorite pastimes included fishing, watching soap operas and game shows as well as spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Leitha was preceded in eternal rest by her brother, Thomas Nichols, Sr.

To cherish her memories: devoted sister, Martha Sweet Rose Nichols, Palatka; Daughters, Cynthia B. Rizer and Iris B. Anderson, both of Miami; grandchildren: April (Corey) Sermon-Davis, Palm Coast; Tanisha Rizer, Renata Ellis, Nikeita Izard, Timothy Rizer, and Wayne Anderson; all of Miami; Whitney Anderson, Atlanta, GA; Nephew; Elder Jerry (Harvenia) Rice, Grandview, MO; Niece; Karen Price, Miami; Special Friends: John Stephen, Lisa Turner; Joyce Arrieta, all of Miami; and a host of great-grandchildren and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday April 1st , at The Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2nd at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 North 19th Street, Palatka, Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., pastor, presiding and her nephew, Elder Jerry Price, pastor of Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ, Grandview, MO., is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
