Lee "Chip" McRae Simpson, 60, of Hawthorne, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his Long Lake Road residence.  A native of Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of Robert Fowler Simpson and Susie Louise Mcrae Simpson, born on Wednesday, August 30, 1961.  Lee was a true entrepreneur.  He was a born-again Christian man who loved the Lord and a founding member of Friendship Bible Church who spent countless hours studying the Bible.  During his career Lee was employed by the Putnam County Property Appraiser's Office, Clay Electric Cooperative, and the FL Department of Revenue, just to name a few.

He had a brilliant mind and he knew a little bit about everything. His interests were endless and he always had a lot to say.  He especially loved collecting cars and trucks (passionate about the 1961 Chevrolet Impala); remote control airplanes and helicopters.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved drag racing.  Above all else, Lee had a kind spirit and was very quick to forgive. He was a great provider and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandmother, Lula McRae.

He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife of 35 years Donna Copeland Simpson, Keystone Heights; daughter, Staci Louise Simpson, Gainesville; son, Jordan Lee Simpson, Keystone Heights; brother, Dale G. Simpson, Venice. Lee's in-laws include, Bill and Sondra Copeland, Melrose; and sister-in-law, Debbie McKittrick, Melrose; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Friendship Bible Church, 1155 Orchid Avenue, Keystone Heights, FL., with retired pastor Reverend Paul Coleman, officiating.  Private Interment: Melrose Cemetery.
