Lee Roy Creech, Jr., 53, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011 at The Terrace of Daytona Beach following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Crescent City, he was born on Friday, December 20, 1957 to Lee Roy and Betty Lou (Sutton) Creech, Sr. He was educated in the Putnam County School District (Crescent City High School, class of 1975). Lee Roy was formerly employed by Tomoka Recycling (Palatka) and Fern Trust, Inc., (Seville). He was also an experienced landscaper, car detailer, and auto mechanic. Lee Roy was a member of Noahs Ark Revival Center in Hastings, Rev. Henry Calloway, III, pastor. He will be fondly remembered for his unsurpassed sense of humor, his passion for cars, his enjoyment of music, and most of all, his kindness. It was often said that Lee Roy never met a stranger and he would often lend a helping hand whenever needed to anyone.
Lee Roy is greatly missed and will be forever remembered and cherished by: devoted mother, Betty Lou Sutton, Crescent City; father, Lee Roy (Hilda) Creech, Sr., Trenton, NJ., beloved children, Michael Phillips and Betty Phillips, both of Palatka; Shantel Creech, Gainesville; brothers, James Pastley, Salisbury, Maryland; Owen Tucker, Jacksonville; Apollo Creech, Trenton, NJ; sisters, Esther Creech (Monnie) Dobson, Crescent City; Freddie Hughes, Deland; Danita Hughes, Daytona Beach; treasured grandchildren, Briana, Aniyah, Larry, Jordan, Ettanicole, Shyron, and Keith; longtime companion, Theresa Bland, Crescent City; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, July 23, with a Celebration of Life to be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at True Foundation Ministries, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City, Pastor Gwendolyn George. Pastor Emmanuel Jay Roberts, Sr., of Walker Chapel Church of God by Faith, Crescent City is the eulogist. The cortege will assemble 10:30 a.m. Saturday at his mothers residence, 1026 Fullwood Avenue, Crescent City.
