Lawrence Ronnie Oliver, 74, of Leland, NC, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his residence. A native of Palatka, he was the son of John T. Oliver and Ida (McBride) Oliver, born on Saturday, February 8, 1947. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a 1964 graduate of Central Academy High School. Lawrence attended Florida A & M University, Tallahassee and earned his B.S. degree. He earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Iowa. Lawrence was licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota. He also worked for Vice President Walter Mondale in Washington, D.C. He was a retired federal employee who served as Assistant General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Energy, Washington, D.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his siblings, John Oliver, Jr., Lillian Oliver, Bertha Lee Oliver, Samuel Oliver, and Eddie Lee Oliver.
He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, April (Willie, Jr.) Miller, sister, Gracelia (Willie) Anthony; brother, Eugene Oliver; 3 grandchildren, Whitney Miller, Wendy Miller, Willie Miller, III; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines including required masks with social distancing, a Celebration of Life will be held graveside at 10 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2021, at Federal Point Cemetery. Reverend Alvin Oliver, pastor of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, Melrose, officiating.
