Larry Link Turner, 62, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Hampton, FL., he was born on Monday, August 14, 1950 to Willie Turner and Louise Pittman Turner. He was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy. In his early years, he attended Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Orange Mills. He was a very hard worker and longtime pulpwood laborer (logging industry). Larry was an avid animal lover and his hobbies included fishing, hunting and telling jokes. Larry was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Ruby Turner; mother, Louise Gibbs, father, Willie Turner; Stepfather, James Gibbs; sisters, Alberta Wheeler and Rosetta Wheeler; brothers, Leroy Wheeler, Claude Turner, Ricky Gibbs, and nephew, Jackie Gentry. Those who cherish his memories, children, Patricia Turner, Palatka; Leon Turner, Pamela (Recardo) Smith, Waycross, GA; Iris Washington, Charlie Washington, Yolanda Washington, Ricky Glover, and Eric Glover, all of Crescent City; sisters, Beatrice Wheeler, Pearl (Johnny) Armstead, Barbara (Napoleon) Walker, all of Palatka; like a sister (special niece), Jacquelyn (Fletcher Morrell) Gentry, Dover, DE; brothers, Curtis (Rosetta) Turner and James Gibbs, Jr., both of Palatka; Willie (Robin) Turner, Orlando; 19 grandchildren; devoted cousin, Doretha Jenkins, Palatka; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, February 2 and from 1 p.m. until time of services on Sunday. A Celebration of Larry's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 3 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity," 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Apostle Cora B. Fells, Pastor of Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka.
