Larry Baskin, 64, a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, peacefully entered the sunset of life on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka. The son of Roosevelt and Alice Marie (Worthen) Baskin, he was born on Friday, July 16, 1954. He was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Crowley and they shared 35 wonderful years together. Brother Baskin was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop Leonard B. Miller, Sr. He was employed by Florida Furniture Industries for many years and subsequently with Phillip & Jordan Construction Company. Larry enjoyed listening to music, fishing, and spending time with family. He had a special love for his boxer-pit bull mix, "Roscoe."
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Freddie Lee Baskin Staten; brother, Roosevelt Baskin, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife, Dorothy Crowley Baskin; daughters, Kimberly Baskin and Mary Baskin; sisters, Jacquelin (Bishop Leonard, Sr.) Miller, Joyce Banks; brothers, Donald (Brenda) Baskin and Kenneth Baskin, all of Palatka; 4 grandchildren, Ke'asya Boynton, Darrell Williams, Ke'Nirra Jennings, Christopher Staten; and a host of caring relatives and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m., Saturday, November 10 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Bishop Leonard B. Miller, Sr., Pastor of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
