Lakesha TeShonda Barkley, 37, of Bradenton (formerly Palatka), entered the sunset of life on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at her residence. The daughter of Calvin Lee Canty, Sr. and Joyce Ann Barkley Payton, she was born on Thursday, December 13, 1979 in Gainesville. She was educated in Putnam and Manatee County School Districts. She was a former member of To God Be The Glory Holiness Church, Palatka. Lakesha was employed as a night supervisor at Strategic Materials Recycling Company. "Kesha" enjoyed styling and designing hair, cleaning, and shopping. Lakesha was a giving, free-hearted young lady who loved to see everyone happy. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Lakesha was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, Leroy and Pearl Barkley; paternal grandparents, David McCoy, Sr. and Mildred Canty; cousin, SPC Stephon J. Edwards (March 27, 2017).

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: mother, Joyce Ann Barkley Payton, Palatka; father, Calvin Lee Canty, Sr., San Mateo; brothers, Kentrell (Lashonda) Hatcher, Tampa; Gene (Teretha) Hatcher, Thomas (Shanice) Shorter, Anthony Offord, all of Palatka; Reginald Shorter, Bradenton; Corey Canty (Ashley Mitchell), Fort McCoy; Calvin Canty, Jr. (Nicole Amodei), Satsuma; Monty Canty, San Mateo; sister, April (Vernon) Mosley, Jacksonville; devoted aunt, Cynthia (Joe L.) Wright, Palatka; aunts & uncles, Pauline (Daniel) Gibbs, Dorothy Barkley, Willie Barkley, Ola Mae Session, all of Palatka; Emma Jean Phillips, Gainesville; Johnny (Irene) Barkley, Riverhead, NY; James Canty, Linda (Robert) Ashe, Deloris (Johnny) Brown, Welaka; Leroy Canty, Palatka; David (Tamala) McCoy, Cocoa; Pauline (Billy) Solomon, Miami; Sandra (James) Herring, Gainesville; Denise (Orestus) Miller, Claxton, GA; Diane Harper, Long Island, NY; special cousin, Jamila L. Brown, Palatka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 23 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Lakesha's Life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at To God Be The Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Pastor Linda Hall. Evangelist Beulah Rice Hall, Associate Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka.
