Obituary

Kirby Kendall Swindler, 44, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, June 15th, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. Kirby was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, born on Saturday, September 10, 1966 to Rudolph Swindler, Sr., and Ruby Cason Swindler. Kirby was educated in the Putnam County School District. He attended Palatka High School (Class of 1984) and subsequently entered Breckenridge Job Corps Center in Morganfield, KY. Upon return, his first employment was with Gardelle Flower Company at the airport industrial park. He was a longtime food service employee at several local restaurants, including Golden Corral, Hardees and served as an assistant manager at Krystals before his health declined. Kirbys hobbies were cooking, cleaning, singing, and testifying about the goodness of God. Kirby was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully in the Music (Chancel Choir) Ministry, former Male Chorus, Sunday School and Bible Study. He was also a member of the Monday Night Prayer Band. He was recently attending Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries under watch care. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by brothers, Kenneth Bernard Haynes, Edward Swindler, Rudolph Swindler Jr., and John Swindler; Sisters, Mary Bowden and Virginia Franklin. To cherish the precious memories: his loving sisters, Vivian Haynes (Cleveland) Tinker, Gainesville; Debra (Ronald) Blackshear, Interlachen; Olivia (Marius) McHellen, (twin sister) Kathy (James Frank, Jr.,) Wright, and Trenease (Freddie) Taylor , all of Palatka; Brothers: Phillip (Linda) Cason, Raleigh, NC; Henry Lee Swindler and LaVern Swindler, both of Jacksonville; loving aunt, Armetta Cason, Olustee; a host of nieces and nephews, especially, Lacresia Wilkerson, St. Augustine; loving caregiver, Felicia Tillery, Palatka; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, June 17th at The Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1414 Bronson Street, Rev. Frederick T. Demps, pastor, is the eulogist. Apostle Cora B. Fells, pastor of Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries, is presiding. The cortege will assemble at 12:20 p.m. Saturday at the familys residence, 503 E. Palmetto Street, Palatka.

Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
