Kim Elizabeth Vreen Johns, 45, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, November 25, 2011 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, Kim was born on Tuesday, December 7, 1965 to proud parents, Earl and Kathryn Miss Kitty Vreen, Sr. She was a 1983 graduate of Palatka High School continued her education at Santa Fe Community College and Everest University. She was formerly employed as a caregiver at the OCarroll Home and earlier at Wendys restaurant. She was a member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the Voices of Praise Choir, Voices of Destiny Praise Ensemble and also enjoyed assisting with Shilohs youth ministry. She was affectionately known as Auntie Kim and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and friends. She was an avid Florida Gators fan, known for giving advice, encouraging and helping others. In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in eternal rest by her paternal grandparents, Deacon Eddie Julius E.J. Vreen and Mamie J. Ford; maternal grandparents, James Foster and Lucinda Foster Crittenden; son, Steven Reginald Johns, Jr., and brother, Lonnie Edward Pee-Wee Vreen. She leaves to cherish her memories; devoted companion, Ronald Sheffield, Palatka; devoted daughter; Julia Renee Johns; devoted sons, Brian Vreen and Justin Vreen; all of Palatka; 4 grandchildren; BreAnna, TeAnna, Savyion, and Lonnie Vreen; brothers; Earl Vreen, Jr, Spokane, WA; Ronald (Joann) Vreen, Samuel Butch (Tomeka) Vreen, both of Palatka; sisters; Dianne Vreen, Forestville, MD; Vickie (Elder H. Wayne) Colbert; Mildred V. Oliver, both of Palatka; Kathy Israel, Yonkers, NY; aunt; Ruby Lee Jenkins, Ft. Lauderdale; uncle, Thomas Hembry, Palatka; godbrother, James Deloach, Palm Coast; godsister, LaShay Johnson, Gulfport, MS., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation of Family and Friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 2 at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 North 19th Street, Palatka. Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., pastor, is the eulogist. The cortege will assemble at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at her residence, 811 N. 12th Street, Palatka. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kim Johns Memorial Fund, c/o Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
