Obituary

Keturah Williams Middlebrook, 30, of Huntersville, NC (formerly of Palatka) entered the sunset of life on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, NC. A native of Palatka, she was born on Wednesday, October 6, 1982 to Henry & Harriett (Austin) Williams. At an early age, Keturah surrendered her life to Jesus Christ and became an active member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Palatka where she was active in numerous ministries including the City-wide Youth Choir. Keturah began her work experience at age 15 as a cashier for Winn Dixie and was promoted to office manager in the 2nd year. She was a 2001 Honor graduate of Palatka High School. In 2005, she earned her B.S. degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance at the University of Florida, Gainesville and subsequently moved to Charlotte, NC., to accept an employment offer as a Financial Analyst with Bank of America. In 2001 Keturah met her beloved friend Kurstan and in 2007, Keturah married "the love of her life" Kurstan Tyrone Middlebrook. They united with The Park Church, Charlotte, NC., where she became actively involved in the Cancer Care Support and Global Missions ministries. Keturah was greatly admired and loved by her family and was the recipient of numerous academic and community awards. She loved reading, baking, cooking new and different recipes, going to the movies and spending time with her husband and family. She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Henry & Harriett Williams, maternal grandmother, Queen Betts, paternal grandfather, Herman Williams, and godparents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas B. Hutcherson. Those she leave to forever cherish her memories: devoted husband, Kurstan Tyron Middlebrook, Sr., Huntersville, NC; stepson, Kurstan Middlebrook, Jr. "K.J.", East Palatka; two sisters, beloved Erica (Sylvester) Brinson, Palatka; Regina Robinson, Jacksonville; brother, Dwayne Williams, Sr.; Her husband's parents, Bruce (Marvis) Christian, Willie T. Middlebrook, grandmother-in-law, Doretha Middlebrook, all of Palatka; beloved aunts and uncles; nieces & nephews, and a host of loving cousins, caring friends, and her poodle, "Koko," whom she adored. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, March 15 at "Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 800 Madison Street, Palatka, Reverend Tommy J. Rodgers, pastor. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, pastor. Dr. Major McGuire, III, of The Park Church, Charlotte, NC., is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka.
