November 12, 1956 – June 7, 2018
Kenneth Corneilus "Kenny" Brown, Sr., 61, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Putnam Community Medical Center. The son of Leon Corneil "Neil" and Grace (Coleman) Brown, he was born on Monday, November 12, 1956. He was educated at Central Academy High School and was a longtime Tissue Converting machine operator at Georgia Pacific and subsequently retired from St. Augustine Luhrs Corporation ( Boat manufacturers ). "Kenny" enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with his children, and watching professional wrestling and soap operas, especially "The Young & Restless" and "The Bold and Beautiful." He was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandmother , Queen Betts; sister , Debra Kelly; uncles & aunt , Henry and Harriett Williams, Freddie Sutton, Sr., special cousins , Keturah Middlebrook, Laron Sutton.
He leaves to cherish his memories: special friend, Joel "Shawn" Brown, Palatka; son, Kenneth C. (Kenyausha) Brown, Jr., Palatka; daughters , Kayo (Rudy) Gordon, San Mateo; Dorcas (Derrick) Patrick, Panama City; Kenisha Coring, KeShonda Coring, both of Jacksonville, step-daughters, Tiffany Dantzler and ShaKendra Johnson, both of Palatka; 8 grandchildren, Predithea Brown, Jacksonville; Juwan Hunter, Palatka; J'teria Allen, Jaquez Patrick, Panama City; Jeremiah Everett, Jacksonville; Keniya Brown, Lawilbert Smith, Dejay Smith, all of Palatka; 3 great-grandchildren ; brothers , Leon (Mary) Brown, Jr., Laronza Brown, Lenard (Tasha) Brown, all of Palatka; sisters , Barbara Word, Lillie Mae Manning, both of Palatka; Linda Brown, Tampa; uncle , Michael Grant, Palatka; special fishing buddy of 40 years, Sam Thompson, Palatka ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 15 and Celebration of Life, 11 a.m., Saturday, June 16, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church is the eulogist. Rev. James Vickers, pastor of New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church of Pomona Park, presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
