Elder Keith Bernard Banks, the son of Pastor H. Harry & Missionary Ruby (Wilson) Banks, was born on Thursday, November 16, 1961 in Crescent City. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and a 1979 graduate of Crescent City High School. He united in holy matrimony to the former Thelma Robinson on July 27, 1996 and they became proud parents. In 1985, Keith graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management. Keith was an ordained Elder in the Church of God in Christ, and faithfully served at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ as First Pastoral Assistant. Keith was formerly employed with Hastings Youth Academy as a Deputy Administrator (for over 25 years) and the Department of Juvenile Justice as a Juvenile Probation Officer (for 3 years). He served as a mentor to many within the church and community and was an inspiration to many young men through the Boyz II Men program. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, football, coaching, mentoring, spending time with family, and going to Church. He was an awesome son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and nephew.
Keith was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandparents, Early and Emma Wilson; paternal grandparents, Joe Henry Banks and Violet Padgett.
Elder Keith Bernard Banks entered the sunset of life at 4:35 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, Gainesville.
He leaves to cherish his memories & legacy: devoted wife of nearly 30 years, Thelma Banks; parents, Pastor H. Harry Banks and Missionary Ruby Banks; son, Shane Robinson; daughters, Shamaine Robinson, Shantecqua Robinson; grandchildren, Zavyon Robinson, Shekinah Leonard, Julius Jaroza, Kennedy Leonard, Harmony Parker; brothers, Harry (Carolyn) Banks, Efrem (Sabrina) Banks, Lorenzo Banks; sister, Ardelia (Laveras) Keenon; godchildren, Ebony Austin, A’Maya Wilson, Garyeon Merrick; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 13 at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration in loving memory of Elder Keith will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 14 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church (South Campus), 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Pastor Jarvis F. Wright, Sr., New Saint Paul Church of Seville, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
