IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katherine M.
Sanford
March 13, 1933 – December 14, 2018
Katherine May Sanford, 85, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life suddenly on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach. A native of East Orange, NJ, she was born on Monday, March 13, 1933 to Frank and Marion (Jones) Fowlkes. She was educated in the Essex County NJ School District. Katherine resided in East Orange most of her life. She was a Social Security Field Representative, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Club WE. In the fall of 1991, Katherine and her husband Vincent moved to Palm Coast. Katherine was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she was an emeritus Usher, Issachar Tribe member, and served on the Calvary Cupboard. She was active in the S.M.A.R.T. book club, Pool Ladies Lunch group, and also enjoyed playing bridge weekly. Katherine was a beautiful, outgoing, hard-working woman, always willing to lend a helping hand, and give her last. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was kind-hearted, caring, supportive and giving – these are adjectives that are synonymous with Katherine, and yet they are more than just words, they are virtues that she lived each and every day.
In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in eternal rest by her brother, Frank, Jr., and sister, Dolores.
She leaves to cherish sweet memories: daughters, Cheryl and Vanessa Sanford; brother, Percy Fowlkes; 3 grandchildren, Jaiqia, Keith, Samori; 4 great grandchildren, Vincent, Raegan, Logan, Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 10-11 a.m., with Homegoing Celebration at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 22, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast, FL., Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor is the eulogist.
