Karl Philip Epps, 74, of Interlachen, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Hospice of Marion County, Legacy House, Ocala. A native of Oakdale, Louisiana, he was the son of John and Beatrice (Berry) Epps, born on Monday, March 1, 1943. He was educated in the Allen Parish Oakland, Louisiana School District. Pvt. (E-2) Epps enlisted into the U.S. Army veteran serving as a General Supply Specialist, earning an honorable discharge in1964 at Fort Lewis Washington. He subsequently transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group. He attended Comm Spec School at Ft. Ord, CA and QM Supply School at Ft. Lee Virginia. He was employed as an automobile salesman in Seattle, Washington for many years. In 2013, Karl relocated to Interlachen, Florida to be near his brother, Joseph Epps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his sisters, Carrie Lee, Margaret Martin; brother, Dennis Epps; niece, Venetta Haley.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Christopher and Karl Epps, Jr., both of Seattle, WA; daughter, Venetta (Garry) Wiseman, Austin, TX; brothers, Joseph (Marie) Epps, Interlachen; Charles (Connie) Epps, Highpoint, NC; sisters, Mildred (James) Jackson, Houston, TX; Ethel Lee, Wilmington, DE; and a host of other relatives in Louisiana, Texas, Delaware, Florida, California, and North Carolina.
Visitation of family and friends will be 3-5 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 5 p.m., Thursday, November 30th at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Karl N. Flagg, pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with U.S. Army Military honors will be 9 a.m., Friday, December 1st in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville.
