Justin Rashard Brooks, 24, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, August 27, 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. The son of Kederick Brooks, Sr., and Detret Burley, he was born on Friday, May 20, 1994. He was a 2013 graduate of Palatka High School. Justin attended Palatka House of God Church. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and was a people person who always smiled. He enjoyed being a rap artist.
Justin was preceded in eternal rest by his loving mother, Detret Burley (January 14, 2015); grandfather, Andrew Williams; great-grandmother, Fannie Brooks; uncle, John Brooks.
He leaves to cherish his memories: father, Kederick (Yvonne) Brooks, Sr., step-mother, Shanth Shuler; siblings, Michael Givens, Lathan Baker, Kederick Brooks, Jr., Kelderick Brooks, Brenesha Dasher, Dae'vianna Baker, and Kai Brooks, all of Palatka; maternal grandmother, Connie Lee Hodges-Burley; maternal grandfather, Otis Green Burley, Jr., Palatka; maternal step-grandfather, Eric Canty; paternal grandmother, Sandra Brooks; maternal great-grandmother, Betty Hodges; maternal great-grandfather, Thomas Edwards, all of Palatka; aunts and uncles, DeLola Mae Burley, Betty Jean (Richard) Williams, Addie Pearl Hodges, Shirley (Eric) Brooks, Latoya (Dexter) Fields, Jaron Williams, all of Palatka; Mossie Brooks, St. Augustine; George (Tiffany) Williams, Orlando; special friend, Oriana Sheffield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 7, at "Flagg Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Justin's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 8, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Bishop G. L. Evans, Jr., Palatka House of God Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
