Ellis Junior Fuqua, 78, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his residence. A native of Dublin, GA, he was the son of Ellis L. and Sallie Mae (Walker) Fuqua, born on Tuesday, September 22, 1936. He was educated in the Laurens County GA School District. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, East Palatka. "Junior" as he was affectionately called was a farming contractor who enjoyed sharecropping and welding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his former wife and mother of his children, Christine Murphy Fuqua; granddaughter, Wilondria Grant; siblings, Samuel, James, Tommie, Eddie, and Ray Fuqua; Essie, Nathana, and Ruby Fuqua; Bessie Lee Parker, Ola M. Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories: sons and daughters, Emma (David) Beach, Parksley, VA; William Fuqua, Gainesville; Kenneth (Minnette) Fuqua, Christopher Fuqua, Palm Coast; Alphonso (Darlene) Leonard, Palatka; Denise Fuqua, Orlando; Vanity Brooks, Goldsboro, NC. step-children; Clarence Murphy, Palm Coast, Ruby (Lester) Hodges, Dunn, NC; Cynthia (Elder Warren) Foster and Mavis Murphy, both of Palatka; 40 grandchildren; brother, William H. Fuqua, East Palatka; sister, Lena M. White, Gainesville; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be held 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 12 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Junior's Life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 13 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 719 Reid Street, Palatka, FL, Reverend James McGriff, Pastor. His pastor, Reverend Julius Jackson, is officiating. Elder Eddie Brown, Associate Minister, First Born Church of the Living God, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka, FL.
