IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juanita
House
October 24, 1932 – November 26, 2020
Juanita Cook House, 88, of Welaka, was released by the Lord from her earthly labors and suffering and called to her eternal home on Thanksgiving Thursday morning, November 26, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native of Fort Gates, FL, she was the daughter of Edna Cook and Grant McMillian, Jr., born on Monday, October 24, 1932. She was educated in the Putnam County School District. She moved to Racine, WI and subsequently to Chicago, IL. She was united in holy matrimony to Leroy House and they were the parents of their dearly loved son, Grady and grandson, Andrew. She was a retired cafeteria cashier at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center of Chicago, following 30 years of faithful employment. Juanita had a vibrant life and circle of friends and family in Wisconsin and Illinois but never lost touch with her family in Florida. She specifically enjoyed talking with her beloved cousin, Arthur, for hours at a time. As a result of harsh northern winters and several health issues, Juanita retired and moved to Welaka to be closer to family. Juanita loved to cook, entertain, shop and travel. She eagerly anticipated new experiences and took great pleasure in sharing those experiences with others. Juanita will be fondly remembered as a beautiful, kind-hearted and generous Christian woman.
In addition to her parents, husband and grandson, she was preceded in eternal rest by her best friend/cousin, Beatrice Riley, and close cousins: Lucille Cathy, Joseph Cathy, Betty Caruthers and Clarence Hutchins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Grady House, Racine, WI; sister , Daisy Mae Graham, Welaka; 3 stepsons , Lee Andrews, James Andrews, Jesse Andrews; brother-in-law , Walter Smith, Atlanta, GA; cousin, Arthur (Rose) Brockington, Orange City; numerous nieces and nephews , including: Irene (T.J.) Tolbert, Seville; caregivers , Temperance Barlow and Carolyn (Isaiah) Mills, Welaka; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines including required masks with social distancing, a visitation of family and friends will be from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020 with the Homegoing Celebration commencing at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Welaka, 638 3 rd Ave., Welaka, Reverend Cornelius Scott Golden, pastor of Ward Chapel A.M.E.
