Joseph "Joe" Luther Walker, 59, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. The son of Luther Mae Armstrong & James Curtis Walker, Sr., Joseph was their fourth child, born on September 12, 1955 in Bunnell. He was raised by his maternal grandmother, Clara Sellers and maternal great-grandmother, Pearl Broxton. He was a 1973 graduate of Bunnell High School and was a star athlete (football player.) He enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents; grandmother; and great-grandmother, Joe was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, James Walker, Jr., and step-son, Miguel Jones. To Cherish His Memories: devoted daughters, Jada Walker, Judith Walker, Jeanetta Walker (Elijah Banks), and Janell Walker (Sonni Taylor), all of Palatka; Selena Phillips, Tampa; LaTasha Ross, Bunnell; sons, Maurice Walker, Deland; Shawn Nelson, Palatka; sisters, Clara Mincey, Rose Walker, Brenda (Steafon) Jenkins, all of Daytona Beach; Dolores "Lois" Walker, Lake City; Queen Thomas, Gainesville; Brother, Wayne Walker, Sr., Daytona Beach; former wife and forever friend, Johnnie Mae Jones, Bunnell; step daughter, Regina Thomas, Bunnell; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 10th, 2015 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 11th at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (Espanola) Rev. Frank Giddens, Pastor. Rev. Julius Jackson, is the eulogist. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Palm Coast.
