Johnny Bernard Armstead, Sr., 65, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at his residence. A native of Sebring, he was the son of Dennis Armstead and Geneva Wilson, born on Saturday, August 29, 1953. Johnny was educated in the Highland County, FL School District and was a 1971 graduate of Lake Placid High School. In 2017, Johnny was baptized and joined the membership of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and also liked wrestling and watching old westerns.
Early in his working career, Johnny was an agricultural worker, truck driver and a Longshoreman. He was an employee of the Great Maltby Oak Nursery in East Palatka. While employed at the nursery, he met the love of his life, Addie Pearl Turner and their mutual love led them to unite in marriage on September 26, 2003. Johnny was a loving and devoted family man, who adored his wife and children.
In addition to his father, Johnny was preceded in eternal rest by his brother, James Armstead.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife, Addie Pearl Armstead, Palatka; mother and stepfather, Geneva (William) Miller, Lake Placid; sons and daughters, Tiffany Armstead, Johnny B. Armstead, Jr., both of Lake Placid; Tony Williams, Sr., Rhonda Williams, Valorie Williams, all of Palatka; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Willie (Robin) Turner, Cape Canaveral; Curtis (Rosetta) Turner; Napoleon (Barbara) Walker, Beatrice Gibbs, all of Palatka; Jacqueline Gentry, Dover, DE; 11 grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Al'Lasia Allen, Palatka; and a host of caring relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, September 14 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 15 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 800 Madison Street, Palatka, Reverend Tommy J. Rodgers, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka.
