Obituary

Johnnie Mae Salmon-Harris, 63, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Crestwood Nursing Center, Palatka. A native of Birmingham, AL., she was born on Saturday, July 28, 1951 to John & Cardell (Burton) Birchfield. She was a graduate of Wenonah High School in Birmingham and later attended Tuskegee University. She was a devoted animal lover and artist. In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Charles Gilford Harris II on Thursday, January 22, 2015; and brother, James Thomas. She leave to cherish her memories: brother, Clinton (Claudine) Birchfield, Riverdale, GA; sister, Eva Birchfield, Birmingham, AL, step-daughters, Michelle Wright and Sonia Waite, Jacksonville; step-son, Charles Harris, III, Palatka; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday February 6, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." A Celebration honoring Johnnie's life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 7, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Her sister-in-law, Mother Claudine Birchfield, of New Macedonia Baptist Church, Riverdale, GA., will be officiating.
