Johnnie Mae (Napier) Napper, 78, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at her daughter's Welaka residence. A native of Jacksonville, she was the daughter of John and Margaret Buckins Napier, born on Thursday, March 21, 1940. She was educated in the St. Johns County School District and her early years were spent in the Hastings/Elkton area. Johnnie Mae was a member of Welaka Church of God by Faith, under the leadership of Minister Michael Scott and faithfully served in various ministries, including Missionary, Hospitality, Food Service, Choir, and Visitation. She was a former member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ and Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. She was very industrious and retired from many years of working as a farm labor contractor, bookkeeper, domestic worker, custodian at Shands Jacksonville, bus driver and teacher's assistant at ARC of Putnam County. Her hobbies included fishing, crabbing, traveling, listening to music, watching television, reading, and spending quality time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her daughter, Elizabeth Napier; great granddaughter, Amia Rene Vargas; sisters, Pearlie Killins, Mandy Smith, Mildred Bryson, Emma Hubbard, Cora Jackson, Alberta Napier; brothers, Moses, Henry, Ernest, and Leroy Napier.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 4 daughters, Margaret (Henry) Ward, Jacksonville, Stella (Darnell) Brown, Interlachen, Leana Ross, New Bern, NC, Melissa (Gregory) Clemons, Welaka; like a son , Willie Lee Ross, Jr., Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren , Antonio (Aneesah) Napier, Demetrick (Kendra) Hall, Shante (Cynica) Jackson, Branetta Maxwell, Johnnie (Richard) Vargas, Darnell (Layne) Brown, Darminquell (Tiama) Brown, Darrielle Brown, De'Adrell Brown, Victoria (Mychaal) Love, Gregory F. Clemons, Jr., Gregory S. Clemons; 17 great grandchildren ; sister , Cora Session, Jacksonville; a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece (phone buddy) , Barbara Hubbard, Wyandanch, NY; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation of Family and Friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 8 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Bishop Raymond Napper, Powerhouse of Deliverance Church, Hinesville, GA is the eulogist. Bishop Mark A. Jones, presiding prelate f New Life Temple Fellowship, presiding.Visitation
