Obituary

Johnnie Lee Maxwell, 74, of Altamonte Springs, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his residence. A native of Quincy, he was born on Wednesday, September 15, 1943 to Gus and Catherine (Smith) Maxwell. He was educated in the Gadsden County School District. Johnnie was an Entrepreneur and a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was united in marriage to Ella Yvonne Brown. Johnnie was sentimental and adored the holiday season especially Christmas. His favorite hobbies included: fishing, landscaping. Cooking and grilling, reading and studying the Word of God, volunteering and ministering to the nursing home residents on Mercy Drive in Orlando. In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in eternal rest by his siblings, Cora Mae Otto, Essie Mae Maxwell Joseph, Gus Maxwell, Jr., Floyd Maxwell.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Ella Maxwell, Altamonte Springs; daughter, Pamela Maxwell; sons, Julius Maxwell, Keith Maxwell; 5 grandchildren, Aubrryanna Thomas, L'iJuan Redding, Jayselia Maxwell, Trydra Maxwell, Lazarus Maxwell; sisters, Willie Mae Roberts, Shirley Allen, Ammie Maxwell, Katrenda (James) Oxendine, Palatka; Lestine Maxwell, Deland; Janice (Alex) Chance, Jacksonville; brother, Odell Maxwell, Orlando; god-brother, Robert Jones, Orlando; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 23, and Celebration of Johnnie's Life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, June 24, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
