John Wesley Williams, 70, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at his residence. The son of Eddie and Leola Williams, John was born on Tuesday, May 15, 1951. He was a 1969 graduate of Interlachen High School. He furthered his education at St. Augustine Technical Center in 1996, earning his certification to become a millwright. John was employed by Georgia Pacific and retired after 41 years of service. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion P.B Church. In addition to him being an exceptional husband, father, papa, and millwright, John had many hobbies. He enjoyed including, traveling, taking vacation, and spending time with family. He loved to start his day with morning coffee (no cream/sugar) while reading the newspaper and completing crossword puzzles. He also loved to fish and take part in Bass Fishing tournaments. He enjoyed attending the Gator Nationals, Daytona 500, and XDA Series.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his daughter, Natasha Williams, and sister, Evelyn Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife of 41 years, Floritta Williams; daughters, Claudette (Johnnie) Givens, Palatka; Marchell (Bill) Fells, Jacksonville; siblings, Eddie (Sandy) Williams, Middleburg; Margaret (Willie) Shaw, Interlachen; Teddy (Gloria) Williams, Orlando; aunt, Margaret Cherry, Ft. Lauderdale; sister-in-law, Muriel Brown, Palatka; grandchildren, Jy'rec Christopher Givens, Ka'mille Brown, Ja'mille Williams, Jerich Givens, Avanta Boyd, By'ris Fells, Brielle Fells, and Brilynn Fells; great-grandchildren, Jasiah Givens and Malaya Givens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends, including his special friend, Harold Nealy.
Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 30 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of John's Life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, May 1 at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1501 Bronson Street, Palatka. Elder Michael Israel, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
