John Thomas Spence, Jr., 62, of Crescent City entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, December 27, at Putnam Community Medical Center. "Tommy" was born on Sunday, September 18, 1949 to John and Matrid (Smith) Spence, Sr. A native of Deland, he was educated in the Volusia County School District. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War era. Subsequently, he became an Insurance agent and a Safety Supervisor. In 1994, he united in marriage to Micaela Sanchez. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Crescent City and his hobbies included car racing. Those who will cherish his memories; beloved wife of 17 years, Micaela Spence, Crescent City; children: Tammy Drayton, Auburndale; Tiffney Spence Perry, Tennessee; Sandra (Francisco Medrano) Sainz, Francisco (Amber) Sainz, Alejandro (Lauren) Sainz, all of Macon, GA; Alejandra Sainz, Orange Park; Tina Spence, John Thomas Spence III, Joseph George Spence, Lorena M. Spence, Michael C. Spence, all of Crescent City; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 30, at "The Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 31st at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2725 South US Highway 17, Crescent City, Father Jhon Guarnizo, is the eulogist. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Crescent City.
