John Henry Oliver, 70, of Jacksonville, Florida, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 5, 2023 at his son's residence. A native of Green Cove Springs and a former resident of Orange Park, he was the son of James Oliver and Lena Ziegler born on Sunday, May 31, 1953. He was educated in the Clay County School District. He was a retired Construction foreman with over 20 years of service with Rogers Construction. John was a very committed member of The Life Giving Christian Ministries where he ran an outreach shelter for homeless veterans during the time he lived in  Augusta, Georgia. He was able to minister and care for hundreds of Veterans, restoring their dignity and pointing them back to Christ. His hobbies included loving on his grandchildren, coaching little league pop warner football, and helping serve in Veteran Outreach. He especially loved his children and serving his Nation as a United States Marine.

He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three children, Chadd Brooks, Edith Hodges and Consuello Hodges; grandchildren, Jazzmine Hodges, Mikala Hodges, Destiny Hodges, Hailey Hodges, Connor Hodges and Zoe Hodges; great grandchildren, Quron McLeod Jr, McKenzie McLeod, and Layla McLeod; siblings, Gwen Washington, Darlene Raggins, David Brooks, Louise Simpson, Tim Brooks, Elizabeth Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
