Reverend John Jon Haymon, 50, native and lifelong resident of Penney Farms, departed this earthly life and entered into his eternal resting place on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville. The son of Reverend John T. and Mamie Haymon, he was born on Tuesday, February 16, 1965. He was a 1983 graduate of Clay High School. In 1986, as an illustration of his passion for the United States, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He received orders to serve and support Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the 9/11 attacks and earned several medals for his honorable service. Upon honorable discharge from the military, John furthered his education at Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in English. In December 2001, John earned his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law. Reverend Haymon accepted Christ as his Savior at the tender age of 8 years old at New Hope Baptist Church, Penney Farms. He accepted a higher calling in the ministry and became the Pastor of New Hope, where he served diligently in spite of his challenging health. Over the years, John has been employed with several governmental agencies, including: the Pentagon (Washington, D.C.) and the City of Jacksonville - Business Development Department. With his extreme ambitious and entrepreneurial spirit, he became the CEO of his own computer systems company, including The Triad Group of overseas workers in India. He served on numerous committees and boards, and often assisted many people with legal situations. John loved encouraging people to make informed and wise decisions. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memories: son, John Paul Haymon, St. Petersburg; siblings, Janice Haymon-Thomas, Miami, Annette Brooks, Penney Farms, Cynthia (Barrington) Haymon-Coleman, Champaign, IL, Tony (Wilnitria) Haymon, Penney Farms, Victor (Sheila) Haymon, Newbern, NC, Barbara (Adrian) Haymon-Andrews, Penney Farms, Cathy (Willis) Colson, Green Cove Springs, Adleane (Martin) Dixon, Green Cove Springs, David Ham, Middleburg; uncle, Johnnie Lee (Sophie) Haymon, Lake Alfred; aunts, Annie Keys, Orange Park, Maude Jackson, Lena Lewis, Pearlie Mae Milton, all of Middleburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and sorrowing friends. Visitation of family & friends will be 6-8 pm, Saturday, September 19, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 4395 Palmetto Avenue, Penney Farms. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Green Cove Springs, 615 Walnut Street, Green Cove Springs, FL. His brother, Reverend Victor Haymon, is the eulogist. The United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
