Minister Joe Bellamy, Jr., 66, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Signature HealthCare, Orange Park. The son of Joe and Amanda (Hayes) Bellamy, Sr., he was a native of Bunnell, born on Sunday, September 20, 1953. He was educated in the Flagler County School District and a graduate of the St. Augustine Vo-Tech Institute. He was a member of To God Be the Glory Holiness Church and formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher; Usher Ministry President; member, male chorus; and a soloist. Over the years, Joe worked with A. D. Bivins Masonry; Best Packers; JM Manufacturing; Sea Ray Boat Manufacturers and was a former park ranger at the Ravine Gardens State Park and former correctional officer at Putnam Correctional Institution. Joe was a sports enthusiast and his hobbies included fishing, traveling, exercising, and listening to music, especially gospel and jazz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his grandson , Tavian Turner; siblings , Elder Ronald, Sr., Anthony, Sr., and Sidney Bellamy, Sr., Patricia Jackson, Barbara McNeal, and Rosemary Moore; sister-in-law, Marilyn Esau; and father-in-law, Rev. Alton Esau, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: beloved wife, Azalee Esau Bellamy, Palatka; daughters, Brittany (Derrick) King, East Palatka; Jovonia (Ronald) Lundy, Vienna, VA; Tiffany Bellamy, "like a daughter," Tiffany Brooks, both of Atlanta, GA; son, Roderick (Waliyah) Butler, Philadelphia, PA; 7 grandchildren, Ronald King, Jr., Capresha King, Nyshon King, all of Palatka; Javarian Jerkins, Virginia; Fadeelah Butler, Musayib Butler, Wali Kasim, Pennsylvania; 3 brothers, Harold (Danita) Bellamy, Palatka; Gus Bellamy, Green Cove Springs; Edward Bellamy, Jacksonville; sisters, Josephine (Alfonso) Brooks, Palatka; Annie (James) Williams, Jacksonville; godson, Terrell Williams, Washington, D.C.; mother-in-law, Loretta Esau; brothers-in-law, Minister James (Arcilla) Esau, Minister Alfred (LaJune) Esau, Pastor Joseph (Loretta) Esau, all of East Palatka; Marion (Eveline) Esau, Minister Alton (Kimberly) Esau, Jr.; sister-in-law, Corina Esau Mack, all of West Palm Beach; Rosetta Faust, Philadelphia, PA; aunts and uncles, Harvey (Connie) McBride, Charles (Ernestine) McBride, Daniel (Deedra) McBride, Earl (Virginia) McBride, Iola (Donald) Beckford, all of West Palm Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 13 at To God Be the Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Pastor Linda G. Hall, Overseer. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 14, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Bishop Mark A. Jones, Presiding Prelate, New Life Temple Fellowship of Churches, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka.
