Joanne Caldwell, 48, homemaker, of Palatka (longtime resident of Crescent City), entered the sunset of life Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Riverhead, Long Island, N.Y., her family returned to Crescent City while she was an infant. She was the daughter of Vera Caldwell and Joseph Bryant, born Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1959. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a graduate of Crescent City High School. In her early years, she was a member of Jethro First Baptist Church, Crescent City. She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ of Palatka and often attended Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church.
Joanne was preceded in eternal rest by her father.
To cherish her memories, devoted mother, Vera Caldwell, Crescent City; daughters, Contrenia Caldwell; Donita Caldwell, both of Palatka; son, Amos (Samantha) Baber, Fruitland; brothers and sisters, John Caldwell, Crescent City, Michael (Lynn) Caldwell, Texas, Derric (Cynthia) Bryant, Joseph Bryant Jr., Michael Bryant, Theresa Tolbert, Mandy Ellington, Anna Bryant and Donna (Willie) Dopson, all of Orlando; 11 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison St., Palatka. The Rev. Karl N. Flagg, pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Palatka, is the eulogist. Pastor Gwendolyn George, of True Foundation Ministries, presiding.
