IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanna Weeks
Jenkins
December 3, 1940 – November 28, 2025
Mother Joanna Weeks Jenkins was born on Tuesday, December 3, 1940 in Union Springs, Alabama and returned home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2025.
She was born to Willie and Mattie Weeks. Young Joanna Weeks attended school until the age of 13. She was united in holy matrimony to Superintendent Sinclair Jenkins on July 23, 1954. Their unbreakable bond lasted for 69 years until he transitioned on May 17, 2024. Soon after being married, she birthed the first of 10 children. Mother Jenkins then became a stay at home mom and would take on some housekeeping duties when time permitted. She worked as a homemaker for approximately 35 years. In 1967, she became a devout Christian and cherished the bible teachings of Jesus Christ. She grew in the knowledge of the Lord and served faithfully in St. James Church of God in Christ, Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Mother Jenkins subsequently became a First Lady in the Church of God in Christ when her husband was assigned as Pastoral Servant at Lake Helen COGIC where he served faithfully for 35 years. She took solace in knowing the Lord was watching over her. Her Christian values guided every aspect of her life and molded her into the beloved person she was. Mother Joanna Jenkins was not only a mother in the church and a mother of 10 children, she was also a mother to countless others she met throughout the course of her life. No one was a stranger to Mother Jenkins….the Mother of Green Cove Springs. She was known as the "Frozen Cup Lady" and was known to many as a cheerful giver. She was a giver of her time, talents, and her finances.
Mother Jenkins returned to her home church, St. James Church of God in Christ in Green Cove Springs, Florida under the leadership of Elder Sidney Bellamy, after her husband retired from pastoring. She served faithfully until she was called home during the morning hours of Friday, November 28, 2025.
In addition to her parents, Mother Jenkins was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Superintendent Sinclair Jenkins; sons, Sinclair Devert Jenkins, Jr. and Tony Curtis Jenkins and daughter, Linda Joyce Holloway.
Precious memories of Mother Jenkins remain with her caring sons, Patrick (Tracey) Jenkins and Willie "Doug" Jenkins; devoted daughters, Brenda (Robert) Lee, Cynthia Tisdale Brown Jenkins, Shirley (Theodore) Jenkins, Leisa Artis and Erika Jenkins; sister in law, Martha (Charles) Baird; grandchildren, Marion (Trisha) Adams Jr., Terese (Lucious) Baker, Sammy Fuqua, Edward (Tamika) Fuqua, Kenneth Fuqua, MeLinda Holloway, Terrell Tisdale, Kevin Brown, Stefanie Jenkins, Santana (William) Cheatham, Toshombee Jenkins, Jenavia (Rashad) Ali, Unitisia Jenkins, Toassi Jenkins, Brandon Jenkins, Latoya Jenkins, Bernard Presha, Patrick Jenkins II, Kendall Jenkins, Atoya Jenkins, Toni Jenkins, Willie Pressley III, Yossiana Pressley; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loved ones and special friends.
