Joan Patricia Thompson, 75, of Palm Coast, FL, entered the sunset of life on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast. A native of New York City, she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Emily Helena Anderson, born on Thursday, March 16, 1939. At an early age the Anderson family moved to Brooklyn, NY., and during her early teens years they moved to South Ozone Park, NY. She was a graduate of John Adams High School in Ozone Park. In 1957, she united in marriage to Theodore Phillip Spriggs, who preceded her in eternal rest, and they were the proud parents of four children. Pat worked as a Supervisor at the New York City Department of Human Resources, Social Service Division, and retired after 20 years of service. On August 29, 1984, she united in marriage to Charles Preston Thompson and they anticipated celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. Her church affiliations included Brooks Memorial United Methodist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, both of Jamaica, NY. Upon relocating to Florida, on November 29, 1999, they united with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast. "Pat" enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, entertaining special guests and caring for her plants. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in eternal rest by her first husband, Theodore Phillip Spriggs; two brothers, Jack Lowell and Kenneth Ron' Anderson. To cherish her memories: loving husband, Charles P. Thompson, Sr., Palm Coast; sons, Jerome Spriggs, Atlanta, GA., Darrell (Brenda) Spriggs, Palm Coast; daughters, Benita Sharon Brown, Winter Haven; Cheryl Boone, New York; stepsons, Charles Thompson, Jr., Brooklyn, NY; Jeffrey Thompson, Staten Island, NY; stepdaughter, Evelyn Barrack, Tappahannock, VA; sister Gwendolyn Alford, Atlanta, GA; half-sister Grace Livingston, East Orange, NJ; sister-in-law, Glenda Anderson, Palm Coast; and a host of other relatives and caring friends. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast, FL. Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor is the Eulogist. Visitation of family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
