Jo Ann Hubbard, 67, of Palm Coast, entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast following a brief illness. A native of Brooklyn, NY, she was born Thursday, June 17, 1943 to Devesaux McHenry and Carole Jacqueline (Blake) McHenry and was a 1961 graduate of Eastern District High School. On October 1, 1965, she was united in marriage to Alfred Bernard Hubbard, Jr. She was a certified nursing assistant for over 35 years at Fairview Nursing Home in Queens, New York, retiring in 1996. She has resided in Palm Coast since 1997.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Greeter and in the Calvarys Cupboard and Gods Striders (Cancer Support Group). Her hobbies include viewing her immense DVD collection, attending movies and listening to her Oldies but Goodies music.
Jo Ann is preceded in eternal rest by her father, Devesaux McHenry; mother, Carole Jacqueline Penny Hines; and her beloved husband of 39 years, Alfred Bernard Hubbard, Jr.
To Cherish Her Memories: Son: Anthony (Doris) Hubbard, Ormond Beach, Daughters: Katherine Kathy (Timothy) Barnhill, Naugatuck, CT, Michelle Hubbard, Atlanta, GA, Ivanna Hubbard, West Palm Beach; Sister, Barbara Layne (Bennie) Brooks, Palm Coast; 5 Grandchildren, Sierra Cumberbatch, Seth Cumberbatch, and Maya Cumberbatch, all of Palm Coast; Myeisa Barnhill, Mahlik Barnhill, both of Naugatuck, CT; Nephews, Norbert Layne, Elmont, NY; Maurice Layne, Jamaica, NY, Christopher Hubbard, Greenbelt, MD; Qwane Hubbard, New Brunswick, NJ; Devoted Cousin, Linda (Russell) Flowers, Kissimmee, FL; and numerous caring friends and family who loved her dearly.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 12 noon until time of services on Thursday, November 11. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Palm Coast, Reverend Edwin Coffie, pastor, eulogist.
Interment will be 12 noon Wednesday, November 17, at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY by Greaves Memorial Funeral Service, Jamaica, N.Y.
