Jimmy Lee Eubanks, Sr., 69, of Johnson Crossroads, entered the sunset of life on Monday, May 12, 2014 at his residence. A native of Palatka, he was the son of Alex Eubanks, Jr., and Ethel Lee Calhoun, born on Friday, February 16, 1945. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Putnam County, residing in Johnson Crossroads for the past 3 years, moving from Palatka. He was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School, class of 1964. He was a member of Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church, Johnson, FL. He was affiliated with Edgar Lodge #201, Free & Accepted Masons. He retired from CSX Railroad following over 30 years of dedicated service and also was employed by the City of Palatka Public Works Department. Jimmy was a musician who played the guitar and keyboard and was also an auto mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and was a "people-person" and "family man" who was very knowledgeable about his family's history. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his sons, Dale Montgomery and Jimmy Lee "Peabody" Eubanks, Jr., maternal grandparents, James and Estella Calhoun; paternal grandparents, Angie Johnson and Alex Eubanks, Sr., brother, Troy Eubanks; sisters, Morris Jean Maxwell and Barbara Jean Austin; aunts, Jimmie Lee Wilson, Marion Williams, Dorothy Calhoun, Leola Calhoun, and Emma Pearl Moore; uncles, David Calhoun, Samuel Nelson, and Robert Eubanks. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 19 years, Betty Crowley Eubanks; children, Sabrina Eubanks, Latesha Wright, Tracy Eubanks, and Traquan Eubanks; 2 grandchildren, Alonzo Hall, Jr., and Ayasmine Hall; brothers, George Maxwell, Palatka; Calvin (Rachel) Maxwell, San Mateo; Kenneth Eubanks, Palatka; sisters, Cora Hightower, Larcina Moore, Brenda Bryant, and Arzita Eubanks, all of Palatka; Ruthie Davenport, Killeen, TX., aunt, Olivia Nelson, uncle, Perman (Sarah) Eubanks, Sr., Palatka; devoted heartfelt friend and caregiver, Mary E. Council, Johnson Crossroads; and a host of other relatives and beloved friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 16 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Dr. Clarence Woods, Pastor of Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church, Johnson, FL., is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka.
