Jimmie "Hip Slim" Gillon, Sr., 75, native and lifelong resident of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Lakewood Nursing Center. The son of Neil Davis and Josephine Gillon, he was born on Friday, August 14, 1942. Jimmie was educated in the Putnam County School District at Crescent City's Middleton High School. He was a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Ministry. He was a retired CSX Railroad machine operator with over 30 years of service. Jimmie was a Master Mason (Blue Lodge) affiliated with New Moon Lodge #32 F. & A.M., P.H.A.

Jimmie was preceded in eternal rest by his parents: Neil Davis, Josephine Gillon Wesley and Bennie Wesley, Sr., brother, Abdullah Amin; sister, Earlene Wesley; grandson, Raheem Gillon.

He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife, Bridget Mae Johnson Gillon, Crescent City; sons, Jimmie (Patricia) Gillon, Jr., Kissimmee; Robert J. (Sandra) Gillon, Orlando; William (Yolanda) Gillon, Sylvester Gillon, both of Crescent City; step-children, Jennifer Johnson, Varsha King, both of Crescent City; John Wilson, Salisbury, MD; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Bennie (Barbara) Wesley, Jr., Winter Haven; Joseph Wesley, Deland; sisters, Leona (Lester) Lewis, Geneva Little, both of Kissimmee; Hattie (Bill) Johnson, Lake Wales; Mary Lemon, Essie M. Wesley, both of Crescent City; Annie L. Wesley, Dallas, TX; Annette Wesley, Brooklyn, NY; parents-in-law, John and Georgia Hudson, Crescent City; brother-in-law, Sherman Hankins, Daytona Beach; sister-in-law, Aisha Amin, Brooklyn, NY; goddaughter, Sabrisha Glover, Crescent City and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends: 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 16 at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1227 Old Hwy 17, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration: 2 p.m., Saturday, February 17 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, South Putnam Campus, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Jimmie's Pastor, Rev. Dr. Brian K. James, is the eulogist. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
