IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeweldean
Junior
April 20, 1948 – November 10, 2025
Jeweldean Calhoun Junior, was born on Tuesday, April 20, 1948, in Palatka, Florida, to Horace Calhoun, Jr. and Lavada Burton Calhoun. Affectionately known as Sister or Jerri, she grew up in Palatka, where she attended Central Academy before journeying north to Boston with the love of her life and husband of 56 years, George Junior.
Jerri and George shared a partnership built on deep devotion, humor, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, music, and laughter. Through every challenge and triumph, their bond remained strong and steady—an example of true companionship. They raised their children with love, took pride in their growing family, and supported one another in every stage of life. Whether traveling to visit family, hosting gatherings, or simply sitting together sharing a conversation, their connection was a constant source of comfort and joy. Their 56-year union stands as a testament to loyalty, patience, and the quiet strength found in walking through life hand in hand.
In Boston, Jerri formed lifelong friendships and discovered a sense of community that enriched her life. One of the most meaningful relationships she developed was with her sister-in-law, Marie Dryden, who lovingly guided and cared for her as a surrogate parent. She also shared countless moments of joy with her best friend, Shirley Adams, with whom she could always pick up right where they left off—no matter the time or distance between them.
Jerri was a ray of sunshine—warm, vibrant, and full of life. She loved to dance, laugh, and gather with others. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Tunk, Rummy 500, and especially enjoyed hosting Pokeno games. Anyone who played with her knew just how seriously she took her Pokeno.
As the matriarch of the Calhoun family, Sister took pride in nurturing her home and caring for her loved ones. She delighted in cooking family favorites, including her macaroni and cheese and her mother's beloved pound cakes…. She made sure to pass down the recipes to her daughter and nieces.
Hardworking and dedicated, Jerri spent many years at Old Mr. Boston and later Joseph Pollak Corporation, where she contributed to manufacturing toggles and switches for the Armed Forces. She carried out her work with pride until retiring in the early 2000s, after which she embraced her most cherished role: caregiver to her grandchildren.
Although she did not have a formal church home later in life, Jerri held fast to a personal relationship with God—one grounded in sincerity and faith rather than place. Even in her final days, she continued reaching toward the Lord. Now she is Home, resting in God's eternal peace.
In addition to her parents, Jerri was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Beatrice Calhoun; brothers, Frank Burton, Ed Lee Burton and Henry Calhoun; and her stepson, Zerrie Patterson, Sr.
Jerri entered the sunset of life on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care.
Cherished memories of Jerri remain with her devoted husband of 56 years, George E. Junior; her sons and daughter, Andre Calhoun (Palatka, FL), Stephen Tyrone Junior (Boston, MA), and Stacye Junior (Brockton, MA), along with Stacye's fiancé, Allen Herring, Jr; stepdaughters Evelyn Junior, (St. Augustine, FL), Bonnie Junior (St. Augustine,FL), and Angela Hardy (Jacksonville, FL); five grandchildren: Jamir Gilmore Junior, Tattyanna Junior, Taliyah Calhoun, Jaiden Gilmore Junior, and Jenay Junior; siblings: Horace Calhoun, III (Ida) South Bay, FL; Lorenzo "Ricky" Calhoun (Hilda) Palatka, FL; Paul Williams (Annie May) Palatka, FL; Betty Calhoun Diana (Sam) Holiday, FL; Lisa Calhoun (Rafael Craig) Clearwater, FL; Dorothy "Dot" Calhoun Largo, FL; Alfonso Calhoun (Dawn) Old Town, FL; Lorenzo "Block" Calhoun Holiday, FL; and Tyrone Calhoun Clearwater, FL; a beloved sister-in-law, Marie Dryden Clinton, MD and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grandchildren, and friends.
Jerri, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, lived a life that was rich with love, service, joy, and faith. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew her.
