IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessie Mae
Ledbetter
November 8, 1952 – August 7, 2022
Jessie Mae Ledbetter, 69, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Ridgecrest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Deland. The daughter of Saul and Thelma (Jordan) Robinson, she was born on Saturday, November 8, 1952 in Crescent City, Florida, where she was a lifelong resident. On July 19, 1973, Jessie married her soulmate, Joseph Ledbetter. The couple had been married for 49 years at the time
of Jessie's death.
Jessie was a faithful member of the House of God Church in Crescent City, where she served until the time of her illness; even then she made her way to the house of the Lord. Being a lover of children, Jessie served in many capacities for her church's YFFU (Young Folks & Friends Union) for many years. Along with her husband, Joe, Jessie had over twenty godchildren. Many days you could find one or more of the godchildren at her home. Jessie, affectionately called all her godchildren "her children," and she treated them as such. Jessie was known as a woman who would not mince her words. At any time you knew exactly how she felt about you. Her love for her husband, Joseph, was evident in all that she did.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by an infant son; brother, Willie King, Sr.; sister, Earnestine Odom.
She leaves to cherish her memories: six sons, Joseph Ledbetter, Jr., of Deltona, Bruce Ledbetter of Crescent City, Donald (Paula) Chavis of Palatka, Paul (Nadine) Thompson of Crescent City, Eugene Ledbetter of Crescent City, Marco (Hazel) Ledbetter of Fort Benning, Georgia; two daughters, Priscilla Ledbetter of Albany, New York, and Roxie (Terry) Mims of Jacksonville; two sisters, Betty Robinson of Orlando, and Frances Robinson of Jacksonville; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, godchildren, and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 19 at Crescent City House of God Church, 1020 Clemons Lane, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 20 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church (South Campus), 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Bishop Gilbert L. Evans, Jr., Pastor of Palatka House of God Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
