Jesse B. Wilson, Sr., 79, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at Riverwood Nursing Center in Jacksonville. The eldest of 4 siblings, he was the son of Boyd & Curly (Leak) Wilson, born on February 5, 1926. He was a graduate of Union County High School in Monroe, North Carolina. He was a lifelong member of Union Springs C.M.E. Church. He later joined Mt. Olive A.M.E. church after moving to East Palatka in 1944 with his uncle Chester & aunt Sophronia Cuthbertson. He served faithfully as a Sunday school Teacher, trustee, usher, and sang in various church choirs. Jesse was joined in holy matrimony to Alice Bryant. For 3 years, Jesse served in the U.S. navy through World War II, he was a longtime employee of Roberts Chevrolet, previously worked at Hudson Pulp and Paper Mill and was a city taxi driver. Jesse enjoyed singing old gospel hymns. Jesse was preceded in eternal rest by his beloved parents; siblings, Annie Lee Wilson, Burnece Wilson, and Chester Wilson. Gwen (Arbie) Curry, Palatka; 5 grandchildren: Yolanda (Todd) Nesbitt, Heather Edwards, Sharonda Wilson, Arbie Curry Jr., Marvin Curry, all of Jacksonville, FL., Devoted cousin, Haveller Wilson, Charlotte, N.C., Sisters & Brothers- in-Law, Juanita Thomas, Wilmington, Delaware, Winnifred Lewis, Tallahassee, Elijah Bryant, Cocoa, FL., Moses Bryant, Doris Bryant, Annette Bryant, all of Orange Mill, FL.; 9 great grandchildren, Teddy Brinkley, Palatka, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family & friends will be Friday, March 14th from 5-8pm at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing services will be Saturday, March 15th, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 115 Pine St., East Palatka, Reverend Quida Smith, pastor/presiding, Wilbur Johnson, eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Cemetery, East Palatka
