Obituary

Jerome "Tag" Hill, 70, of Jacksonville (formerly of Palatka), entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his residence. The son of Harold and Florine (Collier) Hill, he was born on Wednesday, September 17, 1947 in Jacksonville. He was a 1965 graduate of Central Academy High School and enrolled in the Electronic Technology program at St. Augustine Vo-Tech Institute. He was briefly employed at Hudson Pulp & Paper (now known as Georgia-Pacific). Jerome served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War era, stationed in Bamberg, Germany and earned an honorable discharge. During his early years, he attended the family's church, Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was united in marriage to the former Terri Bryant on September 4, 1988. Jerome was an accomplished entrepreneur and for many years, he owned and operated Tag's Restaurant, Maytag Coin Laundry, and Jerome Hill Properties, Inc. with properties primarily situated on Jacksonville's Eastside and in Putnam County. Jerome was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing golf with his Monday crew.

Jerome found great joy in helping, mentoring, and encouraging young people who had lost their way to restart and reclaim their lives. Jerome's greatest passion was his love for family. He was the consummate provider and the patriarch of the Hill family. He often expressed the value of education and accountability to his children and extended family. He epitomized the words of Jesus, "What you do unto the least of these, you did it unto me."

In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in eternal rest by his: sisters, Imogene Robinson, Dorothy Ann Hill, Eva Mae Hill, and Harriet Hill; brothers, James L. Hill, Kenneth Hill, Charles Hill, and Harold Hill, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 29 years, Terri Hill, Jacksonville; sons and daughter, Kacy (Joyce) Hill, Sr., Trenton, NJ; Mayor Terrill Hill, Palatka; Shalanna (George) Hill Bailey, Jacksonville; Nicholas Kirkland, Tallahassee; Mario (Tori) Bryant, Jacksonville; grandchildren, Kacy Hill, Jr., Taj Hill, both of Atlanta, GA; Grayson Bailey, Zadie Bailey, both of Jacksonville; Nicco Kirkland, Tallahassee; Mario "B.J."
